This is a comprehensive two-volume set teaching you how to tie dye a wide range of design shapes and mandalas. The first program shows you how to fold and tie designs for hearts, arrows, stars, peace signs, and more without the use of expensive tools. Is the burning out of part of the fibers of your fabric to give a gauze or openwork effect. For this to happen, cellulose and polyester or cellulose and protein blended-fabrics need to be used. When the cellulose is removed or burned-out, it leaves only the other fiber in the weave where the etching paste has been applied. The paste can be painted or screened onto the fabric. Proper use of the products are shown. 70 minutes.

Immersion & Painting of Protein Fibers With Deb Menz.  Beginning with a full fleece, you will learn proper skirting, sorting and scouring techniques as you prepare the fiber for dyeing. The applying of color to protein fibers before the fibers are spun is easy and fun. First, learn step-by-step how to use the dyes and dye your fibers in a dyepot. (Deb will be working with Lanaset Dyes.) A color wheel is used as a reference to figure out how to mix your own colors and create your own dye formulas. A second approach to applying color on fibers is to directly paint dye onto unspun roving.
